The world is full of amazing phenomena and stories to teach and delight young minds! From real-life endangered elephants to fabled foxes, these source texts get students excited to talk and write about what they are reading! Public speaking skills will be improved through increased confidence in speaking from notes and effective use of gestures and hand movements. Deepening students’ vocabulary, this course introduces students to root words and new vocabulary every week. When rewriting non-fiction pieces or retelling stories, students will explore a variety of sentence types and structures, hone their understanding of grammar, and consistently include sophisticated parts of speech. Tapping into the natural enthusiasm of students this age, this class encourages and enables students to share their excitement about stories and natural phenomena with accurate, engaging writing and speaking.
