As said by Plato, one of the most influential philosophers in the world, “Poetry is nearer to vital truth than history. ” Even in this digital age – the writing, sending, and reading of written words simply cannot be replicated by text messages or any kind of digital text. In addition to keeping the tradition of creative writing, poetry helps build early literacy skills, allows kids to express their thoughts and emotions in a fun way, and gives all kids an outlet for sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feelings in a creative way. For all those reasons, we choose poetry as our way to help our students to improve their creativity and expression skills, and from this 2.5-hour storytelling and poetry workshop, we will create a space where literacy, imagination, and joy of creative writing collide and leave remarks in our students’ mind. Poetry isn’t scary - poetry matters and excites!
